Wow! Cool clip!!!
STEADY AH! This is overall, a very good ranchu. Curvature, wens, tail/fins, colour, etc, fit in the traits of a AAA/show grade ranchu. The only problem I find is the little uphump after the head. But it is not so obvious. I supposed if you groom it's wens, it will be covered up. nice nice... long time never see such good ranchu. Keep it coming. |

QUOTE(Frankie @ Sun, 26 Sep 2004 11:09 pm) The only problem I find is the little uphump after the head. But it is not so obvious. I supposed if you groom it's wens, it will be covered up. nice nice... long time never see such good ranchu. Keep it coming. Beside the little hump on its back and near the head, a scale on its back is also out of alignment with the rest. I suspect it is a replacement scale as it is less orangy in colour. Sorry. I'm being picky. The problem is I don't think there's anything I can do about it! Oh... I have to watch the diet (in every sense. wink.) and hope I learn how to groom a muscular ranchu. Anyone any tips? |

Small update.
I woke up early this morning to find eggs all over the tank floor which confirmed this is a female ranchu. But I'm also writing to say the ranchu is kept in a 50 litres QT tank all by itself and it has no trouble releasing the eggs despite the absence of a male ranchu. Hope this proves once and for all that act is possible. It also means my QT tank's water has been good (has 300+ grams of salt.) It losts a scale, probably as a result of it ramming against the only object in the tank, an air-stone. Sigh. After changing water, I handspawn her to release the balance eggs still within her to find little are left. She's doing fine. Oh, while handspawning, I found her ovary track extruding by 3-4mm; she grew a penis. Perhaps this is a sign of self-spawn? |

UPDATE:
After a little over 2 months, this gal gained an inch measuring 14.5 cm now. It has never touched green water throughout this period. Beside the gain in length, I noted a smaller, less pronounced cheeks and minimal change in her wen. I attribute the slow growth to restricted diet. Nevertheless it's a healthy active ranchu. I think she isn't complete and still has rooms to grow. Does she look fat or fit? |
