Oh yeah... try shooting without using your camera flash. In macro close-up shots, the flash usually over-powers the subject and for a black fish makes it (especially the scales) looks horrible.

I am a fan of blackies ("tamid" in Thai),to me this specimen is average.
Wen covering eyes will not score as all tamids eyes will be fully covered since young. The headgrowth is good but I dont like the overall round shape of the head.The "buffalohead" effect is lacking.Maybe lesser wens aroung the cheeks would be better. Tails are on the big side but it is difficult to get a tamid with small tails. The plus side of this fish is its smooth back and pointed tail. Maybe my standards are a bit high after seeing GA 029 but I would say that it is still a good buy below $100. |
