This fellow is about 5 inch now. I like the contrast of the red against the white. I am only able to take one side of this fellow cos still not very good at goldfish photography. Value your comment on this guy.

Let me help you learn how to select your next ryukin.

but i'm not good with words so you'll have to try to see for yourself in the following comparison pic:

IPB Image

1. Size of head in proprotion to body; yours too big.

2. The Back should be the shape of the arch of a bow; yours not smooth and kinked.

3. Belly should be round; yours not bad... i think.

4. The tails should be erect; yours almost flat.

5. Dorsal must be erect all the time; woohoo! happydance.gif

Please look at more Ryukins to sharpen your understanding.

I concur with all comments as above and wish to add:

1)Hump rise too gentle.A more drastic rise is better.
2)Head is not wedged into hump.

Colour control on dorsal fin is good, but not on the tail.

The other ryukin in the background (partially hidden) is not good either.

Overall nothing special, but I won't say its lousy. Most important is you like it.

Thanks for the feedback, really appreciate it cos I am totally new to this hobby. Only know how to view a nice koi but for goldfish, it is a total new knowledge to learn.
