Erh ... body way out of shape. Features do not suggest a chinese fish.
Overall a poor specimen. |

overall, i think it's nice... but from the pictures above, the 2nd pic (left side) looks nicer... the first pic (right side) shows the peduncle abit too long... must be a female oranda... btw, is the tail end bent?

Sorry... I dunno much about Oranda.
Maybe can study the Aquarama 2002's Oranda category winners or the following at QianHu goldfish Competition. http://www.rafflesgold.com/forums/index.ph...findpost&p=4532 http://www.rafflesgold.com/forums/index.ph...findpost&p=4539 Anyway, I just wanna say the last pic is very well taken! ![]() |

from the latest sets of photos, i tot the headgrowth is nice... beautiful fish... except for the slight tail end bent... btw, it would be better if the back was more humpy...

This oranda is very nice, nice head/wen for an oranda looks almost like a ranchu/lionhead/oranda all in one (talking about the head). Very cool good find. Standards are different every where for every species of goldfish and fish in general. This hobby is based on personal opinions, and prefrences. It's hard to say that there is a standard because not everyone agrees on the same thing. But I personally think that it's hard to judge any goldfish because there are so many good ones out there besides it's only easy to judge a goldfish when you are comparing a certain number of them. For example, at goldfish shows if there are 8 orandas in one category then you just compare the 8 of them and pick the best of the 8 as 1st place so makes juding easier when you have other goldies to compare with. So if 6 orandas look average and 2 are highend quality then judging is different from all 8 being high quality rather show quality.
