Advise on tank setup Options

Is mine overcrowded too ? All my goldfish are quite small.... 5~6cm from head to tail average...

Another qns, why is my water getting cloudy these few days... Will Anti Chlorine cause the water to become cloudy ?

I change my water 10-20% daily and each change, I will add Anti Chlorine to the fresh pail of water.

I check my kh and ph at kH 3 and pH7. No salt added, only anti chlorine. Tank is 2 feet only.

Please advice...

Stocking level looks ok as fish still young. Water cloudy most likely because filter not mature, still building up bacteria.

pardon me, but the reading is killing me...i admit i am NOT a talented reader, but do you have a more direct layman terms of DO and DON'T...... Each time the word ammonia and nitrite word appears, it remain me of going back Chemistry lessons and get nagging from my Chemistry teacher Mdn Loh...

I am not kidding or lazy (really), but it's not going to help myself a-lot if i go read the whole website above mentioned.

If you ask me to fix a computer and you show me, I can start fixing a computer in minutes.

But if you throw me a book "DIY FOR Idiots, give me 5 minutes, most likely you see me sleeping away.

I am more like a handy man more than a reader. Please show me some light....

anyway, to prove i read everything........ this is what i only understand from the website...

1) wait, let the Nitrite and Ammonia drop, the Nitrate rise, and the tank will be fully cycle.

2) the time taken is 2-6 weeks.

I don't understand something .....

1) wait ? then should i change water daily ? I doing 20% daily.... 30mins ago just did one.

2) after 2-6 weeks, water will be clear ?

3) after water clear, do i change the full tank ?

Change at least 50% each time. You can do it once a week instead of daily.

After tank is cycled, water will be clear.

3) after water clear, do i change the full tank ?
Change At LEAST 50% , otherwise nitrates will keep on accumulating.



The internet has already made knowledge aquisition so much more convenient and if you are not willing to read up on a website, there is nothing we can do. Imagine having to go to a library !
Tank cycling is one of the most important concepts in fishkeeping and if you are only allowed to understand one aspect of keeping, understand this one.

I am glad I have access to internet. But I do not have the basic of chemistry, therefore those Nitrate, Nitrite and Ammonia kinda put me into sleep.

Frankly speaking, if you talk to me about 9800GT graphic card and DDR2 800Mhz Ram, Overclocking CPU, pushing the core value and Rapier Hard disk, I will understand totally because I have the basic.

Qns : Corals users, do you wash those Corals during WC ? Because mine is showing some brownish thing growing on it...

Hi CP, does it mean that if I have algae, it means that the beneficial BB is not working or enough? That's what a shop owner told me. IF I have good bacteria, I won't see any algae in my tub!!

If you have algae and water is clear (green algae, not brown) , it means the beneficial BBs are working already converting ammonia to nitrates (ie good sign). The algaes feeds on the nitrates to thrive.

boss, do you have an image of algae ? my corals have brown stuff growing on top. what should I do with those brown stuff ?






and... what are BB ? Bad Bacteria ??

LFS owners are not always right.

I wondering what benefits them from wrong information... shouldn't they be giving more reliable tips and have a long term relationship with the customers and keep them coming back for MORE ?

I find that Clementi 24hours LFS is extremely helpful towards me. Was it their service or earning a lot from me, I don't really care. What I want is a past time enjoying my hobby without hassle.

As the matter of fact, the more they teach me, the more I am tempted to upgrade to a 6Feet tank because I know I can handle them better.

Just like RG Forum....friendly...resourceful... and a lot of experts around... even got fish doctors

The brown stuff are fish poos. At the moment leave them alone with with coral chips, grow the bacteria.
BB = beneficial bacteria.
