Don't know if this is the correct place to post. If not, mod, pls shift it to the correct place.
Question: If you have a goldfish which is not eating as much as the rest and growing as fast as the rest, what would you do to pump it up? Note: They are all house in the same tank. |

No one has this problem before? Besides isolating it and feed more, what other ways can we use?

a few possibilities i can think of
health, which results it being weaker, thus loosing the "fight" in grabbing food genetics, eg. runts sometimes feed so much also no use, else why some ppl eat so much still skinny? |

observe the fish when u feed. which one eating less, not eating or no chance to get into the crowded space. Or the fish actually has the share but till not growing.
for latter case, not much u can do. otherwise, you should try small feeding and increase frequency. Or you can try to feed at different corner of your tank. Or to no choice but to separate the weaker fish. |

Think it's not health because it is very lively. Think it's not genetics because..... see below. observe the fish when u feed. which one eating less, not eating or no chance to get into the crowded space. Or the fish actually has the share but till not growing. for latter case, not much u can do. otherwise, you should try small feeding and increase frequency. Or you can try to feed at different corner of your tank. Or to no choice but to separate the weaker fish. I have been observing the fish for weeks. Usually other goldfish just grab when they see food but this fellow will only eat one or two pellets and go for more when it finished. By then, the rest already shoot most of the pellets. What I did is to give small feedings and increase the frequency. It does have a little effect, it grows a little. Why I said its health is OK is because it is actively chasing for food when I throw the pellets in. It is also very lively during other times. The problem is it stop chasing when it got the 1st pellet. I think this is just a habit it was born with...... Eat like a gentleman. Any idea what else can I do? |
