very sad
once upon a time, rafflesgold was an exciting website where goldfish hobbists exchange pointers.
it differentiates itself from the rest of the forum with no nonsense approach and no "unsubtantiated comments " .no commercial agenda,
today it is a quiet forum
"Quiet" is understated. More like dead.
Come to think of it, the "once upon a time" is now almost 10 years.
I still pop in quite often....... to nothing.
So, how sud we make this full of informations site revive again leh???
Being a pioneer site, things always get a bit stale after awhile.(just like an old marriage) Needs some TLC to spike things up and move with the times. I see on many occasions when new or not so new members posted their treads, they don't get any reply or a long overdue one. This kills off enthusiasm and new blood participation which are vital to any forum. But still, this is a very good forum and has got plenty of good articles from the past.
I for one learned more about fancy goldfish on this site than any other place.
I also referred other goldfish lovers to this site and still do. IMHO there is more info here than on any
other place on the web or any book i have read.
But dying has made us rarer gifts than precious gold
Speak not from our mouth but was rightly told
We may lose our glitters ,we may lose our shine but we remain,Rafflesgold......
Really hope to see RG active again
u cannot blame ....
nowaday, many LFS have come and gone especially those that carry quality Goldfish.
rainbow gone, jalan kayu uncle bye bye soon. so sad....Yue Feng, too exp, Sam, too pai sei to walk in and drool.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
the market is awashed with arowana....prices have come down to affordable level from thousand to just mere hundred even at 199.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
and some breed such as ryukin on the other hand , price has gone up and up since last year.
quality ranchu and oranda now aday hard to come by, 3 months ago i tikam tikam some redcap at S$18 each. one grow bigger than the rest by one boday size while the rest remain a runt.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
recently i bought Louhan and ciclids too.....at least they did not die on me compared to Goldfish even when there is some spike in PH and change in water chemistry
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
now thinking of converting to plant tank......
But there is so much information to read in this forum...so most of my question in regards to goldfish already being answer in the forum, just need to do a bit of search.
Can I have a show of hands, how many are keen to revive this site???
All hands must be willing and committed to make it happen by actively posting of coz.
i'm keen although no tvr or svr for keeps now...
Holy mackerel; Has it been ten years.
I imagine that for many of us we were 10 years younger when we started. Since starting this forum, I have had heart surgery, I now wear an ankle brace and walk with a cane. Needless to say, my get up and go has slowed a lot.
Last year my goldfish breeding efforts when down the tube when the weather heat up so fast last Spring. The two Springs before I was laid up in the hospital and then home recovering. I don't have a lap top so I was off the computer for quite awhile.
Things were looking good this Spring, but during this mild winter, I lost my only female Ranchu and early this Spring before the ponds were set up (and they still are not up and running) I lost my last Phoenix. Both of theses fish have been with me for 15 years, so it is quite a loss. My last Philly Veil I was hoping to mate this year with the Fantails that grew up two years ago, but I really have not looked to see if any of the Fantails are female, for I know that Philly Veil is a male.
To tell you truth it is just hard to get around and do all this stuff, plus the economy has affected what I can buy, plus my twin girls are in their freshman year of college and that is a drain.
A bright spot is that I was at a KOI distributor in Edmond this last weekend and he is getting some Orandas in the middle of May, so I am looking forward to going there and seeing if there are some fish that I would like to own and hopefully breed. He is having a lot of trouble bringing in Goldfish from overseas, so he is looking for someone local, because it seems all the local breeders have stopped breeding, so maybe this is an opening for me if I can get my fish to breed. The weather again has gotten warm quickly and we are already in the 80's (27 Celsius).
As soon as I get my filter running the fish go outside. I have the parts now, and hopefully it will be up and running before the weekend.
Phoenix
Well, we've had our seasons in the sun...
This site will always serve as a "reference" site. No point repeating those old discussions and arguments. Whatever you need, just do a search.
People come, people go. When you decide to come back to the hobby, this site with all the info will still be around. Keeping this website alive is at affordable cost. It has been paid for many yrs in advance anyway, just to let you know.
Hahahahahaha..............
Ken ah Ken...................
Your once favorite.........
Sad to see that this forum been very quiet..
