Wow! Cool clip!!!
STEADY AH! good_very.gif

This is overall, a very good ranchu. Curvature, wens, tail/fins, colour, etc, fit in the traits of a AAA/show grade ranchu.

The only problem I find is the little uphump after the head. But it is not so obvious. I supposed if you groom it's wens, it will be covered up.

nice nice... long time never see such good ranchu. Keep it coming. good.gif

Beside the little hump on its back and near the head, a scale on its back is also out of alignment with the rest. I suspect it is a replacement scale as it is less orangy in colour. Sorry. I'm being picky. The problem is I don't think there's anything I can do about it!

Oh... I have to watch the diet (in every sense. wink.) and hope I learn how to groom a muscular ranchu. Anyone any tips?

Haha. I was lucky I caught it spinning as if showing off.

Small update.

I woke up early this morning to find eggs all over the tank floor which confirmed this is a female ranchu. sad.gif

But I'm also writing to say the ranchu is kept in a 50 litres QT tank all by itself and it has no trouble releasing the eggs despite the absence of a male ranchu. Hope this proves once and for all that act is possible. It also means my QT tank's water has been good (has 300+ grams of salt.)

It losts a scale, probably as a result of it ramming against the only object in the tank, an air-stone. Sigh.

After changing water, I handspawn her to release the balance eggs still within her to find little are left.

She's doing fine.

Oh, while handspawning, I found her ovary track extruding by 3-4mm; she grew a penis. Perhaps this is a sign of self-spawn?

Careful when handspawning a female with "penis". It's likely the ovary track is already stretched and fragile.

UPDATE:

After a little over 2 months, this gal gained an inch measuring 14.5 cm now.

It has never touched green water throughout this period.

Beside the gain in length, I noted a smaller, less pronounced cheeks and minimal change in her wen. I attribute the slow growth to restricted diet.

Nevertheless it's a healthy active ranchu.

I think she isn't complete and still has rooms to grow.

Does she look fat or fit? unsure.gif

I feel she still looks okay although she seems to look different from last time.

But i'm curious how different you think it is. Please write.

it was more "fit", color & features were much better

maybe a recent video would allow for better assessment

the wen has deteriorated by quite a bit. i don't see a fitter fish, nor has the color intensified.

features improved????? where got.....

the fish is going downhill.

Thanks guys for your feed back.

The seemingly smaller cheeks are an obvious difference but I was more concerned on her buldging tummy. So i put her on a diet (yet) again.

But 哇咔, where did you read the "features improved" claim from? tongue.gif

Anyway, I'm happy to write today I finally figured out why she is so out of shape:-

IPB Image

Yeah... she was full of eggs lah! longpia.gif

Luckily she managed to release some eggs by herself this morning and I have hand spawn the rest. She must have kept them for some weeks!

i should find her a male companion. tongue.gif

Here's a video as requested that I shot shortly after emptying her eggs.
