My dream to have a planted tank. drool.gif
After that maybe graduate to a marine tank. biggrin.gif

Discus in planted tank?I thot neon tetras are more common.Understand that discus needs soft acidic water with massive water changes (at least 25% daily),so do you practise that?

good ! but do pay some attention to provide some shade or dense area for discus. It has been a long while since I seen the last discus planted tank. A little emptiness in the "golden" area, lack that "balance" look. Have a look at Laserguy planted tank. Quite nicely balanced.

They will not grow to their full potential as compared to those discus in bare bottom tank. However, they can still grow reasonably well if the water quality is taken care of and if they are well fed.

Discus need massive water change as they are usually fed with beef heart to pump up its size. The beef heart foul the water, hence, massive water change is necessary. sad.gif I don't need to pump my discus as long they still grow but a slower rate. The emphasis here is not on the fish alone but on the plants as well. On the other hand, discus in bare bottom tank emphasize on the size, shape and colour of the discus. So I don't feed beef heart. Water quality in a planted tank is also good as the plants serve as a good bio-filter. So I just need to change water twice a week. wink.gif
