Splitted from Of Lifespan Or Live Spend?

People,
kind off topic question here. How long can a koi in our climate live? can koi lasts longer than goldfish?
This question surfaced after this topic's discussion about how much we spent on our fish and how long can we enjoy it. therefore is koi a 'better investment' than goldfish?

Dear nobnoba

Koi and goldfish may have many similarities but they have equally many constrasting attributes. Each has its own strength and beauty and it is not wise to appreciate them from an investment point of view. hmm.gif hmm.gif hmm.gif
For example koi need alot more space, are more active and are best appreciated from the top while goldfish are more mild mannered, like water without much current and are appreciated for their shape and not pattern.

Koi in our climate from my own personal opinion lives longer than goldfish however they are equally prone to early deterioration if the environment is not conducive for their growth

Goldfish or koi?
The main problem here is usually overstocking.
If you have adopted and adhered to water : fish ratio with much respect most problems encountered in keeping would have resolved by itself.
Usually the one lonesome fish that use to occupy with other tank mates live the longest after the rest have perished(provided you dont add any new ones)
