I heard that some "金钱龟" is an endangererd species and it is illegal to bring into Singapore. Is this the species that was banned?

Somehow I seldom see these in SG. The photos were taken from my trip to Malaysia. SG where got sell? Think getting from SG is better than getting stopped at custom to have these creatures cleared

Guys ... if I am not wrong. The only turtle species that is allowed as pets is the terrapin. tongue.gif

All the rest of the turtle species you see in LFS are actually not leagal.

Unless ... of cos you wanna keep those that were sold in Chinatown for turtle soup. ;)

Guys ...

the link that may throw some light ;)

http://www.ava.gov.sg/javascript/m6-option2.html

Quote:
... Not all animals can be kept as pets in Singapore. Under the Wild Animals & Birds Act, our wild animals should not be caught or kept as pets. Similarly, imported wild animals such as snakes, lizards, hedgehogs, sugar gliders, monkeys and star tortoises cannot be kept as pets. However, there are many types of animals which may be kept and these are: dogs, cats, rabbits, guinea pigs, hamsters, gerbils, mice, chinchillas, red-eared sliders (a type of terrapin), and many types of fancy birds and fish. We would advise you to check with the Wildlife Regulatory Branch (62270670) or us (64719987) if you are not sure what animals can be kept as pets, as the penalty for keeping an illegal animal can be severe. ...

I am not sure about the penalty but I too is very tempted to keep a few of these exotic turtles and allow them to free-roam in my garden. tongue.gif

Hi TVR, the bukit timah pet tiger they were talking bout was actually kept by a man whose occupation was a doctor. This is real. How I know, good question. Remember two months back AVA raid a flat in serangoon ave 1 and caught a fruit stall boss who have snakes, scopions and geckos in his room. Well hes my childhood friend. He deals with exotic animal all the time, even know whos the real big time exotic animal importers in singapore. Been to his place everynow and then, his room really looks like "jungle" hor.
