Any comments on my one year old, 12cm long tri-color oranda?

Very special oranda.(To me, at least).

Firstly, its tri-coloured.
Secondly,its short tailed.
Thirdly,it has a 'butterfly tail' when viewed from top.
Fourthly,it has buffalo cheeks.
Fifthly, it even has a moustache.
But most amazingly, though likely to originate from Thailand,it resides in Alaska!!! beg2.gif

Hi there Abby biggrin.gif

Agree with all CP said, but isn't oranda better long-tailed?

Thank you!

I purchased him from a gentleman named Jimmy Chen in New York and he imports most of his stock from Thailand biggrin.gif I was very excited to get this guy, because I would never find goldfish of this quality anywhere in Alaska.

Yeah agreed

Thailand now popular 'wrinkle-tail' oranda. smile.gif But this one not wrinkly enough biggrin.gif

Anyways, back to the fish. About 6 months? Boy...?

Good
Interesting colour
Black does not show any signs of wrapping (another colour)
Matching anal fins (from what I can see)
All fins straight no kink
Good angle tail carried at (approximately 45degrees)
Tail split good/complete
Scales neat
Overall nice by oranda standards

Not Bad
Headgrowth (wen) can be stronger for a 6 months old fish
Tail set at eye level - some people prefer higher set (debatable depending on which picture you are looking at)
Black colouring is superficial (not on body only on edges, might fade ekk! ohmy.gif )
Body can be shorter (depending on preference)
Tail top lobe not straight but curves (not because of weight either) but this is a VERY minor point...

Overall good.gif
