Hi Cheang,

You've got a bunch of nice ryukins collection. I like the brown one.

Some pics showed the dorsal fins are not always erect; a good ryukin should have the dorsal erect all the time.Maybe try feeding them viagra. rolleyes.gif

The full red and red/white lacks the shine in their scale; do they have access to algae or sunlight?

Will try to answer your questions

Camera - Canon 1D

Ryukins - they vary in age, some have been with me for about a year or so already. I have a few tanks so I do move them around a bit. At the moment, there are 6 similar sizes ryukins in a 6ft glass tank. I had a short calico ryukin but it has passed on. Completely black ryukins are not that common. When I first got this piece, it was completely black but probably due to my inexperience, its lost some of the black colouration so now it looks more bronze then black.

CP, some of the shots were taken when they were swimming across the tank and being of a large size but you are right, they are not the perfect ryukin with an erect dorsal all the time. Maybe because of a lack of female ryukins? hysterical.gif

They do have access to algae and I have two 150W MH lights on the tank which is on during the daytime. I suspect its because of the bright MH lights thats has caused the pics to look like they do not have the shine. Normally after the lights go off, you can sort see the glow coming from the fishes. Will share some shots of the tank when I get the chance to upload tonite.

Yes , was using paste food for the morning feed. It does cloud up the water for a while. Have stopped for now, instead feeding them lots of bloodworms at the moment and krill.

Hah hah, I see you have also been looking over the rainbow biggrin.gif

Sorry but I am going to ask a newbie question which has surely been discussed before but I can't find the post. The black colour of my calico ryukins is fading and I wanted to know what is the best artificial lighting for colour enhancing (including black).

Can somebody redirect me to the post if it has been discussed before. Thanks

Amazing Ryukins. Impossible to find in the U.S. without paying HUGE dollar amount. Ryukins are my passion of the goldfish world. Wish I could be fortunate to have just one of that quality. Thanks for sharing the beautiful pics!

Love that tricolor. The red and white, and the giant are no slouches either. Have to agree with luvinmygoldies though. Fish like that are absolutely impossible to source in the U.S. Even if I had the money to spend, I don't know where I would even go about finding fish like that. Worst part is, I bet they aren't even that hard to come by for you guys.

I'm sure the LFS here would be more than willing to ship to you guys if you are willing to pay the shipping costs. Will still work out to be much cheaper than trying to source in the States.

I wish we can do that. But we still need to go through the US custom procedure and it costs a lot of money and time as well.
