Could someone explain why green water is much better than clear water?
And why not every goldfish keeper to raise their goldfish in green water? One reason that I can see is I can't even see the fish in a green water setup. But my main question is does green water really that magical? |

You've got to accept the fact that you cannot see your fish, except perhaps during water change.
Alternatively, clear water with lots of wall algae. green water diehards think that it is not as good, but many other hobbyists think that it is equivalent if not better. I for one has experienced good results using green water. |

Have u ever had green algaes in your tank and what was the result compare to green water? I've heard as long as the algaes are green regardless their shape, they are good source of food for goldfish, is that true? |

Sometime ago I wrote an article on clear/green water which may of interest to you. Here's the link http://www.rafflesgold.com/forums/index.ph...1932&hl=gce And sometime back I conducted an experiment on wall algae with clear water and here's the link http://www.rafflesgold.com/forums/index.ph...15&hl=algae And yet another experiment which I conduct on blacks in green and clear http://www.rafflesgold.com/forums/index.ph...80&hl=algae Lastly a very thoroughly discussed topic on the coexistence of both green and clear water http://www.rafflesgold.com/forums/index.ph...53&hl=algae There are many routes to achieve comparable results. You need to weigh your priorities.Time, practicality, aesthetic, odour and the presnce of HOME MINISTER ![]() Good morning(here in Spore) goldrush |

Few months ago, I had 'accidental' green water as I left my pond unattended for two weeks aside from feeding and the green water started!! Probably also there was some sun that trickled in....howto get rid of black algae that forms on the wall sometimes... My ranchus seem to have grown too... ![]() ![]() This post has been edited by 2goldfish: Sat, 27 Dec 2008 5:06 pm |

newbie here to goldfish, was told that goldfish do better with sunlight. these are my thoughts, sunlight do good to anything, it will kill of germs. We put our cloth under the sun...
So as long as the water got sunlight, is it enough ? If yes, then we can setup in such a way that it will have best of both world. |
