bottom half of the fish looks as if it has been compacted forward..
whats the size of this fish?
is it kept in an outdoor green water pond, or indoor tank?

This has to be one of the top-quality black ranchus that I have seen. It has an near perfect body shape. And thanks to green water, the headgrowth is superb. I am also very impressed with its blackness. The tail seem to be a little unbalanced. Is the right side of tail shorter? Or is it the angle the photo was taken?
Very gorgeous piece of gem. Please keep it with good care. I am sure it will win something in the upcoming competition in your country.

Beautiful!
The eyes are almost completely covered? That's so cool!
Love that tails too not to mention the pronounced cheeks.
How long is this ranchu?

Thanks for the comments.
I've been keeping it in a rooftop tank and the size is about 12 cm+, I wish it could grow larger by now, but the grow rate is quite slow. The tail is balanced.

Greeting, I see an indonesian friend here reading Kompass Minggu ...
How much growth since a year ago ?
From the newspaper reference, this fish about 4.5"... very good size and shape. This is a good specimen. That would clear some of those myth of black fish fading in green water.
Might be wrong as the photo a little blur, but i think it could be a chinese black. shoot me if I am wrong.

I think Thais name this type of fish "tamid".
Wen fully covering eyes very common for this type of fish. But finding one with small tails as shown is difficult!
Very nice shape, nice back arch, good small tail, excellent tail angle. If you can turn the belly colour to charcoal black in my opinion it will be an almost perfect tamid.
Congrats.

"12 cm+" refers to the depth? That's very shallow for such a big ranchu!
Can you post a pic of your rooftop tank please? I like to see how it looks like.
Thank you.

12 cm+? You measured from the tip of the mouth to the end of tails, or to end of body only?

the legth refer to: from the tip of the mouth to the end of tails.

I'll try to take a pic after the change of water this weekend, 'cause I've many tanks so I do the water change one every day.
"but i think it could be a chinese black. shoot me if I am wrong"
It is a thai black female.
"hey Indonesian! who are you? since i am in indo too."
Ntar ketemu di Indofish aja!
"and perhaps your other ranchus too!"
I do keep only Ranchus :Thai topview, Thai sideview, Calico, and recently added Fujiwara and Kahino BB (with the help of your goldfish Guru - Mr. Alvin), but now they are about 10 cm long.

First I look forward to seeing your roof-top green water setup.
I'm confused. The Kashino BB is 10 cm long, but this black ranchu you have been keeping for a year is only 2cm longer? Did you measure wrongly?

That's why I find that the black ranchu grows slowlier. The topview ranchus normally increase in legth faster.

Secretary,
can i ask you? I also own 1 black ranchu, been keeping it for 5-6 months, but it shows no significant growth. compared to other ranchus that are in the same fiber tank, the black ranchu is growing too slow/not growing at all. do you experience the same?
To ALL BLACK RANCHU EXPERT, is that the trademark of black ranchu? or its just my pure luck, i got a slow growth one?

I do experience the same with thai black ranchu. I don't know about chinese black, 'cause I don't keep it.
I attach 2 pics of my (self made) tank, one b4 water change n the other one after water change. The dimention of the tank is 200 cm (L) x 52 cm (W) x 24 cm (D).

Very very beautiful tamid. I am not sure if the tail is not curl in. Or only in the picture. If not, it will be Showgrade. No question about it. I have not see a beautiful tamid of this standard for a very long time. Lucky owner
