Full Version: Overfeeding?

Hi... currently I'm providing continuous supply of live tubifex worm for my goldfish by using the worm trays... Does this mean that I'm overfeeding them?
nobnoba
umm.. i would say so, yes. goldfish is like a little baby, never stop eating and dont know the limit of its eating capacity. by you providing endless supply of food, it will likely be harmful for goldfish.
my opinion of course.

Eh Void, how do you cleanse your tubi? After seeing how they harvest the worms, I realised how full of diseases they are that I stopped using for the time being.

first of all, i soak them in PP... but must be very fast (about 30 seconds)... or else they will be dead (I have experienced this)... Then put them in running water for an hour... then put some tetracyline and soak them for an hour or two... By putting them in running water, the dirty stuff or dead worm will be separated below the alive ones... So take the top layer to feed your fish... the bottom layer will be the smelly dead worms or dirty stuff... Actually, you can lift the whole chunk of top alive layer worms... leaving the dead ones below...

BUT but but but ..... 1 hour to wash worms, 1 hrs to rinse worms ... that's a few cubic meters of water wasted. U can change your tub water several times instead.
RanchuGOD
This is very interesting. I personally don't use tubiflex, but the effect can comparable with blood worm. Hikari bloodworm is by far the cleanest. So there is no really any need to risk your fishes with tubiflex worm.

Yo void! You're right man. I tried them excessively before. Effect is really superb! good_very.gif And you can see them grow tremendously in mere matter of weeks.

Now you know why I asked how you washed the worms? (Backside itchy again biggrin.gif)

Water not exactly free. Must pay electric bill to run pump to pump water from the well. Understand price of oil not cheap there either. beer1.gif

WAHHHHHHHH .... the last time I buy by kg of worms was when I breeding betta. My whole house stink like rubbish land fill site. I got to build net on the large tub to store these worms and one hell of mosquite hatching after a day or 2.
