Anyone has kept Hongkong Ranchus?

Here are my recent acquisition.
Physical attributes
1)Strong robust fish
2)elongated body
3)Strong contrasting colors with platinum white base
4)Mouth set at lower level(Parrot beak)
5)Minimal headgrowth

Look and feel that these will grow big before filling up
What say you?

2nd fish good.

Not HK fish lah, GuangZhou line.
goldrush
Sorry lah no experience on their roots Matrix

Any idea whether this line can grow to a respectable size
CP
I prefer the 1st piece, but my guess is the 3rd piece will be the eventual winner in terms of size (just a guess based on thickness of back).

Care to share which LFS carries HK ranchus?

goldrush,

my 2 ranchus also from tongguan, guangchou. bought from fengshuifish.
it sure looks diff than those jap ranchus shown in this forum.
anyway, does that mean it has 2 diff standards for appreciating ranchus? or regardless its origin, it has to comform to certain standards, like wen/head growth, curves, tail, colour, etc.? Please shed some lights on this topic.

Wah Goldrush next time I charge secretarial fees liao.

OK, Mr Khor:
I guess appreciating ranchus from top has not caught up in KL yet, which is why you find that "Jap ranchus look different".Anyway, that is how it is appreciated in Japan much like kois and a good standard was written by Mr Geert Coppens here:
http://www.factum.be/hozonkai/pages/others/articles.html

As for appreciating ranchus from the side there are no known standard written articles or but generally the back shd be smooth, tail to be erect etc. There is a guide here but I think the pics are no longer available:

Now this fish has the poorest growth rate.He competes poorly in feeding with the rest .I just isolate him up in solitary confinement 2 days ago in a 4 footer glass tank hoping to bulk him up.At least now he gets to eat at his own pace.Hopefully I can see some positive result rolleyes.gif
