A long goldfish life may not be good enough but a good goldfish life is long enough.

A long penis may not be good enough but a good penis is often long enough.

Goldfish or human seed? Are they connected?
What if both are as long and good? dntknw.gif:

Today's seed of goldfish wisdom

Better a ranchu with a single flaw than a cull without one
jhansolo
how can a cull be without any flaws?
goldrush
Here my friend a cull is reject by defination and even though it may have all the physical attributes of a good fish , it may still fail to make the mark of an acceptable fish by virtue of its behaviour, growth rate, motion etc.So think deeply that no matter how you want to improve this reject,it will be worthless and futile in your effort

To put it in a more philosophically

Better to own a diamond with a single flaw than a stone without one.

desireless
Qualitatively, a flaw is for example, a (Side View) ranchu with a not so good curve. A defect is for example, a ranchu fry with dorsal, which is first to be culled.

But most of the time, a flawed ranchu with a not-so-good curve (for example), will be culled as well, subsequently. This is why jhansolo had asked, I guess.

So doc, there might be a need to rephrase the sentence.

Better a ranchu with a single flaw than a defect without one

This still doesn't sound right as flaw is most of the time seen as defect sweatingbullets.gif
goldrush
Sorry for a small misrepresentation here perhaps I should rephrase it as below for a better understanding

Better a ranchu with a single physical flaw
then a cull without one at all
goldrush
In compensation for yesterday flawed saying here is another poetic one

One man’s cull is another man’s treasure
Goldfish keeping is a just another relative measure
No absolute
Stood resolute
My resounding belief
Sorry if I’ve caused much grief
Sad to say but tis true
My apology again for making your world so blue…..

What about ...

Better a ranchu with a single physical flaw then a cull without obvious demerits

But anyway, Thank God here the term cull is not so sensitive.

My goldfish are culls and they are beautiful.
