Agree with you on the scales part.Very nice fish indeed!!

I was looking trying to find fault with it but seems to have all the good qualities of a SV - the shape, the back, the tail are all good. Also looks like having the bell shape type of tail. The only drawback is perhaps it does not swim horizontal.

Nah beh, .........I was wondering who the f___ is this Chaisootikumong guy before I understood the 'Luan joo pah cheng'.mad3.gif

Gd evening doc ( why so formal har?),

No lah.Got this piece about 2 months back.
Making debut 1st time.

Well ok.Look quite similar till the tail give away the suspicion.Maybe you have special interest in this coloration.the body looks good but may lean towards a head standing posture in the future. (correct me if i'm wrong)the headgrowth is not too pronounced as the previous piece(any shrinkage since the day you bought it?)the head appear smaller in ratio to the body giving an unbalanced proportion(that's my view)But certainly has a cute bulldog face to show.Overall a acceptable piece but color seems to have dwindled(no sun tanning I suppose)

Yo Doc,

No shrinkages in headgrowth over the last 2 months, but the red colour seems to get lighter and lighter..... mad.gif .Thats the disadvantage of keeping in home tanks w/o sunlight.

Swims like a snake too !!(too much body and head movement). mad.gif mad.gif It was not obvious in the LFS as the tank holding it was small, but once in my large home tank this undesirable trait was clearly exhibited. But, it swims with a horizontal posture, not head down.

One more month in my home tank and then off it will go to the pond.

Thank you for your comments.

the tail section ain't that good, the angle is wrong. use your hand and over up the fish body and look at just the last tail parts. the length & breath of the body seems to suggest its a TV cull.

yes it was a culled TV indeed laugh.gif
my finger was pressing on the tail to catch the snapped photo. it do suggest some problem in this angle of shoot. but overall i think the angle of the tail is ok. will verify when it grow a little bigger.

Hey white horse maybe we belong to the same category.CHEAP SKATE

When you can turn a cheapy into something wat people desire to own that's a personal achievement(of course not show class std lah)Major flaws in development can never be rectified no matter wat effort you put in.However with proper care and attention you still can turn something out of nothing at all.Yes we may be playing in the arse league but if you can realise your cull into its full potential, the satisfaction is immeasurable, comparable to Moyes guiding a no- star Everton to 4th in the EPL!i would like to see this fish in 3 to 6 months time ,not to assess the flaws or its deficiencies but more importantly the managerial skills and grooming talent of the keeper.Sometimes the best of the cull maybe better than the worst of premium class under the wrong hands.....................

Sorry Matrix I guess one man's meat may be another man's poison,I find the back not smooth and scalation very messy.Maybe my appreciation for these type of scalation and colouration (looks calico looks sakura) is not there yet.

This type is known as shiny scale sakura and in demand somewhere out there. Take your time, it's not easy to appreciate the calico variety.

Scale wise yes maybe it is special.

But overall still not my cup of tea. Have seen better sakura ranchu in some tubs in QH.

Nacreous/matted fish usually exhibit sporadic insertion of metallic scale giving an untidy outlook and perhaps giving itself a demerit point or two. This piece shows otherwise. The Ginrin(if I could use koi language here)scalation extend over its nacreous base without much interruption. But the bumpy back and minimal headgrowth leave much to be desired.Nevertheless an up and comin new variant for us to behold......... good_very.gif
