Dear RG members,

Currently i use filter like shown below in my TVR tank

Filter consist of three levels where in each box in every level I put bioballs. The size of my tank is 2 M x 1 M x 0.5 M. From the top level, water flow down to the next level until reach and poured to the pond. I made plenty of little holes in the bottom of each box in order to divide the flow cause many say that large water flow will impact to swimming style of TVR. I put it on the top of my house's roof so it get plenty of sunlight. Sometime the water turn to clear water and sometimes to green water. My question is, does my setup still give negative impact to my TVR's swimming style? Any comment is welcome for the improvement of the set up

Thx

Hi pak Irwan,

That's amazing setup. good_very.gif
I've just curious why green water still exist with your filtration?

Regarding the swimming style, I think yes there will be some impact (whether big or small).
The Japanese always keeps TVR with aeration only.
I myself still admit that I couldn't follow this system 100% (Well, you have seen my setup alive wink.gif ).

If you have more space left, I suggest divide it into 2: with and without filtration.
And then evaluate their swimming style. Compare them.

Thanks

Looks funny but it is an innovative use of the cabinet!!

With a hugh capacity of compartment, I supposed you can innovate it further it to a Bakki shower:

But you will need purchase the Bakuhenseki stones though biggrin.gif

Pak Chandra,

It used to have clear water but bout three weeks ago, i washed the filter since it became very dirty. My mistake was i also washed the bioball. It cause the BB disappeared and the filter need time to be mature again. So sometimes the water turns green, sometimes turns clear. I think i need to use bacteria starter to support the filter to become mature. Well, i have more space left, but then again, need approval from the general (my wife) biggrin.gif Maybe i will buy some small containers and put one fish in each box. Space consuming but small things always look small even though the space consumed is the same with the bigger things nananana.gif My dearest wife will not realise that hysterical.gif

Dear Desireless,

Yup. It looks funny. But it cheap u know. Small cabinet like that only cost you Rp 100K or SGD 16.66 (If 1 SGD = Rp 6,000) while bioball only cost me Rp 200 K. biggrin.gif To be honest, I adopt the idea from bakki shower but i found difficulties to obtain the bigger containers. There's no way that i will buy the momontaro bacteria house (bakuhenseki stones) hmm.gif . It's very expensive. I believe by using the bioball or lava rock, it will work, just need to add the capacity and adjust the power head to ensure that water have time enough to flow within the bioball/lava rock so the BB bacteria have time to process the nitrat. Btw, thanks for the link

Idea of a home fixed DIY trickle system. shiok.gif
Aesthetically need more refinement though(My Home minister would kill me with all the pipes, bricks ,broken wood, ripped off net and bamboo sticking around gunsmilie.gif )Looks abit overstock.Maybe that may explain your wrestling with green water bruce.gif

Dear Goldrush,

Maybe it needs refinement but my wife seldom go upstair. So i will not make refinement nananana.gif . Looks ugly huh? biggrin.gif I feel it overstocking too. Will look for some small containers this weekend and move some fishes. I'll keep the good ones in the fibre pond. If u want to try this, suggest u to find out the bigger containers than mine.
