I don't really know if there is any implication, but I does that too. Usually just add a drop of M. Blue into the tub to treat the same batch from the same tank/tub.

on this topic of sump tank, i just return from polyart and they are selling the I-Box for a cool $140. in case ppl don't know, it is an overflow box to add on to current tank. thus no need to drill hole.

I don't know what's an I-Box (is Apple Computer into aquarium products now? Woo hoo!) but if you want you can DIY an overflow setup without drilling holes for only a few dollars.
