Full Version: Chinese Ranchu

This is Chinese and not everyone’s cup of tea
I love it still and that’s every part of me
It may not come in fancy purple, copper or dull blue
We know such colors normally don’t hold true
Don’t need it to be neon either, nor electric or any shades of pink
A simple orange and white may seem too plain for all I think
A good headgrowth, smooth nice back and a well carried tail
Is all it will take for me to buy cos it never fail
I adore the Chinese as they grow to be very large
Unlike others that will cost just as much
Of them I grow to be very fond
And in them that graze in any pond
A national beauty every Chinese can attest
A poor man’s version of goldfish very best.

Some chinese ranchus for appreciation

To me, Chinese ranchu always seem more broad and powerful than the Thai ranchu. I don't know if it is the climate they are grown in, the bloodline, or just my imagination. The one in your second photo is especially nice.

Absolutely stunning collection of Chinese gold there. I find that the Thai fish often have very strong backs and good tails, but at least for the fish that show up over here, more often than not, the headgrowths are very lacking in comparison to Chinese fish. As far as black ranchu go, the Thais often have far better coloration as well. Thoughts?
