i just ordered one ranchu, is two too many for 29 gallons?
I have 5.5" one in 29 gallon too. It should be ok.
so two goldfish is ok for 29 gallon tank?
For some, the rule-of-thumb is 10 to 15 gallons per fish. That's not a very good rule of thumb because it disregards the following:
* The present size of the fish,
* How fast you want to grow the fish,,
* The size of the filter, if any,
* The amount of water exchange,
* The amount of cleaning and other maintenance,
* How willing you are to risk contracting some disease,
* Your expertise in properly diagnosing and treating a disease,
* The value of the fish,
* Whether or not the fish is being groomed for a show,
* The compatibility of individual fish.

So, it all depends on what you are willing to put into the hobby and what you want to get out of it. The best fish have a lot of space to themselves. Some think that a good show fish cannot be groomed to its potential in less than 50 to 100 gallons.
