QUOTE(goldfishguy @ Sun 18 Jan 2004 10:57 AM) I throughly enjoy reading while you guys critique each others fish. I however do like the comment made on another topic "It is a good fish if you like the fish". Don't we all have our own eye for what we think is an attractive specimen? What's perfect to one isn't necessarily so to another. Nevertheless, I enjoy reading your comments. ![]() Sometimes we tend to be too frank with our comments. ![]() There's a saying Beauty is in the Eye of the Beholder. Sure, that's generally true, but when it comes to goldfish, many will agree a person's perception of Beauty can change. Take my first ranchu, attached, for instance. Back then, I knew a ranchu should have a smooth curved back. I also make sure it doesn't have any missing scales, torn fins etc. ![]() I swear I thought it's a beautiful ranchu. So when I received a one-liner reply that the tails is too flat, I was a little ... insulted. Well well, it took me a while to finally figure out that the comment was truthful. Thank goodness I didn't scream and shout or picked a fight with that person. ![]() It's a butt ugly ranchu because a decent ranchu should not have a flat tails. What I'm trying to say is... most newbies are not familiar with how a good ranchu should be. If they're willing to learn, they will pick up cues that will change their perception of what constitute a beautiful ranchu. Be thankful when members here willingly critique your ranchu... if you are ready to learn more. ![]() |
