Save the money and get a good air-pump plus a couple of sponge filter instead.

I second that, spectical at first but seems to fit in the fundamentals, tried and it works, the only problem there are floating particals that got me very irriatated, so I turned on my other filters.

Yesterday, tested water and noted a sharp increase in nitrate, but no time to change water now, hope the fish can wait till Sat.

So that mean changing 100% is safe as long anti-chlorine is added to the new water.so how before will the anti-chlorine take effect?That mean what is the time limit before i turn on the powerhead of my filter?

How big a tank are we talking about here? I leave my water in the jelly can mixed with aquafin for at least 30 mins before I introduce them to the tank, so the tank is without water for about 10 minutes tops.

I usually just pump my nutrafin water conditioner into the tank directly and top up tap water... so far so good..... hehehheheh infact for a very very long time liao... never have a single casualty due to water change before.... but then hor... I will observe the fishes careful to make sure everything is ok. ... till now, I swear by nutrafin..... Y618 told me going to be out of stock soon for at least 3mths..... I bot 4 x 2L bottle to keep stock...wahahhahaha

I have to change abt 1600 litre of water twice a week.... cannot afford to use jelly can or water storage tank

Alot of forums suggest to do a25% the most per week to prevent from killing the B.B and by doing a80-90% change this will alway put stress to the fish,right?

alamak, which forum? dun tell me AF hor. goldfish is not arowana

why shd we be concerned abt the BB in the water? majority of BB shd resides in filter media in a cycled system. change water doesn't mean change filter media. good water changing habit harm BB minimally. good water changing habit will also stress goldfish minimally. not changing water massively will stress goldfish optimally.

do u know why we want to change so much water? not for fun one...

How old is the ammonia alert meter?  I can't remember the exact value but it takes a while for the meter to become sensitive and accurate.  Also... what's the pH like?  The meter is calibrated for pH 7 only.

Hi Bro HB, Seachem Ammonia Alert only calibrated for pH7, does that mean that if my pH value is 8 then the Ammonia Alert will not be accurate ?
