QUOTE(Ranchu Lover @ Sat, 03 Dec 2005 1:15 am) I have seen terms like "Giant"; "Jumbo"; "Awsome"; and "Huge" being used to describe ranchus that cannot be hold with one hand. Based on your statement, all Oya ranchus should reach this length if they are properly cared for. In terms of months, how long will a ranchu takes to reach the length of 24 cm long? What is the longest ranchu that you have ever seen? There are young Oya - around 30-36 months - that are very big already cfr AJRS 2004 East Ozeki Oya. It is difficult to say how big was the biggest Ranchu I saw. It is not always possible to measure a Ranchu. Regards, Geert Coppens |

In the Jakarta Goldfish Show 2005, there is a classification using the term JUMBO class. eg Jumbo Oranda; Jumbo Ranchu etc......Pleasse refer to this link: http://www.rafflesgold.com/forums/index.ph...opic=3162&st=15 post 24.
Back to my question (irritating to some)? What is a GIANT/JUMBO ranchu? |

in a competition, to create excitment and also sometime fair competitive structure, the organiser might split the class to multiple level. If really going by the AJRS standard, will u get a chance to participate in the Junior class ? No right or u wanna challenge that ?
Depending on the country standard and how well the organiser know about their fellow countrymen, they will know how fair it should be. Just imagine if VRC coming show will have a few so-called Jumbo fish (> 9") competing with those slightly above 5" fish, how would you judge ? Remember size is a judging factor. It won't take too long to know the follow year, noone will send in small fish. And VRC might need to really re-think the classification. So will VRC also decide on doing the breeder class which Indonesia also have ? This post has been edited by CP: Sun, 11 Dec 2005 3:15 pm |

QUOTE(Ranchu Lover @ Sun, 11 Dec 2005 2:50 pm) hahahahaha > 9" is really big fish. I believe u seen before and also holding to some. Calling it jumbo is comparing to wat I have seen before .... If u ask other, 6" can even call jumbo. Try send these fish for some foreign countries for competition and they will ask u - r u sure these are goldfish or some mutation lokang fish. there is no definition to it, it's how a show characterising the size, get recognising a fish parameters and readjusting their internal definition. so wanna know what's giant size in my own eyes ? sheesshhh .. can't believe this kind of question and die die still must get an answer. go ask the indonesia goldfish club. ask them how they define.... junior, senior and jumbo. do any of this characterisation of fish size make any sense in local context ? VRC maybe can answer that. cp, edited har ... ![]() This post has been edited by The Matrix: Sun, 11 Dec 2005 4:16 pm |
