seems to be stunted, and the tail shows signs of stress at this picture angle

profile of back is good.tail is also good and erect.scalation above average, i would say.
on the downside body is too short.may not grow big.

well first the pelvic and pectoral fin is somewhat clamped together, second the tail looks like it is curved and third if you look at the top of the tail close enough you can see a bit of damage either from a fish attack or a fungus infection.

looks like he just recovered from a parasite attack or bacterial infection, did you recently buy him? you need to watch out because sometimes after a parasite attack the slime coat may be completly shed off which makes him an easier target for more infections. sometimes it's easy to see if your fish is stressed by color, this one is losing the red coloration which means he was having a hard time processing beta carotenes for red, unless there was a diet change

how can u tell he has just recovered from a parasite attack or bacteria infection? wow!
so is he alright now? should i do any treatment?

nope, i had him for a few months already.

he was yellowish gold in the beginning, in fact.. it was the opposite of loosing coloration.
